Amy and Eliza at Be Well Katonah

testimonials

“Post-covid inflammation robbed me of a normal day to day existence for far too long. That was until I made an appointment for acupuncture at Be Well Katonah. Eliza listened, asked many important questions and treated me with patience and grace. I walked out that evening feeling far better than I had in a month. It was the first of many acupuncture appointments that supported me as I recovered. Be Well Katonah is truly a gift.”

“Amy has changed my life. I had chronic tension and pain in my neck for years. I would suffer daily, it was draining. I assumed I’d just have to deal with it forever. I tried everything: chiropractic, massage, and just about every gadget that popped up on instagram and I would get a bit of relief, but nothing like what I experienced with Amy.

After my first visit I had instant relief, now, I see her every 2-3 weeks and my chronic pain and tension are completely gone.  She’s a real pro, knows the ropes, is a great listener, a compassionate healer and is passionate about her practice. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Amy Hausman and the team at Be Well Katonah.”

“Amy from Be Well Katonah is truly wonderful! I began seeing Amy for acupuncture treatments to help with my symptoms of long Covid fatigue, chronic inflammation, and headaches. After a few sessions with Amy, the relief that I felt from my symptoms was incredible. Amy is so knowledgeable and talented. She really takes time to evaluate your individual needs. I would highly recommend Amy to anyone looking to feel better!”

“There is magic in Heather's healing hands. Heather at Be Well in Katonah has been working with me to relieve post surgical pain and muscle atrophy. When Heather is performing a massage, her attention is not focused solely on the body part that is experiencing pain. Instead, she treats the body as the complex and complete entity that it is. Her knowledge of the body, its muscular and vascular structure, is extensive. Of equal importance is her willingness to listen to the client, understand their needs and goals, and make the client a partner in the healing process. Heather's affect is welcoming, calm, and comforting. The facility is attractive, peaceful, and well maintained. I highly recommend Heather for therapeutic massage.”

“Heather does an AMAZING job not only with my massage, but also with the extra time she takes to give me more insight into how my Neck/back/shoulders/knee works and moves.  Plus it's very impressive that she's constantly taking classes and training to continue to learn based on the latest research! Heather is awesome and is the best massage therapist I've ever had, and I've been to many over the years.”

“I have been seeing Eliza since I found out I was pregnant at five weeks. I truly believe this is an important and worthwhile investment in my overall health and well being. I notice such a difference in how I feel between my first and second pregnancies. Seeing Eliza each week is so nourishing and definitely my favorite form of self care. She always listens to all of my issues and symptoms (awful 1st trimester nausea, fluid retention, migraines and placenta previa to name a few) and helps me to understand what’s happening in my body. Between her knowledge and experience as an acupuncturist and being a mom to young children herself, I always feel like I’m in the best hands with Eliza.”

FAQs

  • During your initial visit, we will complete a full health history intake. We will ask questions about your chief complaint(s) in addition to general questions about your health and lifestyle, and any physical exams that may be necessary. We will also perform Chinese medical testing, such as Chinese pulse and tongue diagnosis. All of this information will be used to form an accurate and comprehensive diagnosis in Chinese medicine.

  • Yes, when performed by a licensed acupuncturist (L.Ac)! Acupuncture is a non-invasive treatment well known for its efficacy and lack of side effects. All needles are single-use disposable. If you have any safety questions, please ask us, we want you to feel comfortable!

  • Licensed acupuncturists complete a four year masters degree in Chinese medicine. These programs require 3000 clinical hours and exams (not to be confused with 200 hour acupuncture courses that Chiropractors and Physical Therapists can complete).

  • By accessing the Qi in the body via specific acupuncture points, one can boost or nourish that which is deficient or one can resolve and reduce that which is excess. Sometimes the Qi is blocked from either external or internal influences and it needs to be stimulated or unblocked. Simply stated, we are returning the body to its natural state of balance and harmony.

In an effort to explain this in a Western medical setting, there have been studies done which show that acupuncture stimulates various neurotransmitters that can initiate a healing response in the body. Basically, endorphins or other neuropeptides are released which not only boost our immune system and regulate body function, but also have a direct relationship on our perception of pain.

  • We do NOT do dry needling. Dry needling is the term used when healthcare providers other than acupuncturists (PT, Chiro, etc) use needles to treat various painful conditions. Dry needling is currently illegal in the state of New York.
